I've never really enjoyed speaking in public and have sometimes found this anxiety inducing. Sometimes it comes from a real place which is feeling like I'm not going to be interesting enough to keep people's attention, or will seem like I don't know what I'm talking about, or will seem unconfident. And then the anxiety can make this true by causing the voice to be strained, or making it harder to remember what I was going to say. So the anxiety becomes self-perpetuating.
I heard recently that there is actually a drug you can take which reduces anxiety before speaking (!) and apparently lots of apparently very confident and successful people use this - so I guess this is a relatively common issue. But are there any good techniques people know that don't involve medication?
