Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good Friday and have some cozy weekend plans ahead. 🍪☕
I came across an interesting article that I wanted to share - it's written by four female clinical psychologists and it offers some really helpful questions for distinguishing between safety behaviours (things we do when we feel anxious to soothe our anxiety, but which also prevent us from learning and overcoming our anxiety), and sensible precautions.
It has lots of examples, some specifically related to social anxiety, and some for other kinds.
I'm curious what you think of this if you read it, and whether you have any other tips for knowing whether you're using a safety behaviour or just being careful?
Warmest wishes and thank you for being here and part of the community 🧡
