Yesterday, I was at the train station. It was pouring down rain, so there were lots of people inside the station. As I was trying to find my umbrella in my bag, a white cat came up to me and was rubbing against my legs and being super cute.
A couple were standing nearby and started talking to me, thinking it was my cat. We had a quick little joke around and laughed and then I got my umbrella out and walked away.
This is a HUGE success for me! Normally, if a stranger starts talking to me or making banter, I immediately freak out that I’ll not understand exactly what they said, and then say something weird in response that doesn’t really make sense. I’ll then spend the next few hours thinking about what I should have said instead.
But this time, I think I was funny and they seemed to laugh and it was a cute moment. So, thank you cat! You were the conversational leverage that I didn’t know I needed. Maybe I should bring a cat around with me all the time…? Good conversation starter!
