Hello everyone, hope you've had a good week so far and have a restful weekend ahead of you.
I always wonder how to introduce my posts here (how will it land?), but I want to try bringing a little bit more of myself into this space. ππ
I slept badly last night. I fell asleep fine but then woke up at 5:15am (like I have also done for the past 3 days). It makes me feel worried when I can't sleep: I worry about being tired, moody, annoyed, and annoying. Bored and boring. π©
I am usually very strict with never having my phone in my bedroom but this morning I thought 'you know what? let's break that rule. i feel like doing a guided meditation instead of all this rumination.' (it feels weird to share my inner monologue like this!)
I did this 30-minute yoga nidra meditation by Jennifer Piercy on the insight timer app.
I'd really recommend it. If you don't like her voice or accent or vibe, there are lots of other ones on youtube too, of different durations.
If you haven't tried yoga nidra meditation before, it's basically a guided deep relaxation practice with no downward dogs, only Shavasana: you actually just lie down the whole time without moving. There is a teacher gently guiding you to relax the body part-by-part and honestly, it just feels really really good.
I'd recommend trying it today or this weekend if you feel like this might be for you.
Do you have any guided meditations that you would recommend? It would be lovely to hear :)
Wishing you some of the bliss and ease I felt doing it this morning πΈππ
Sofie
PS: There's a lot of evidence that deep relaxation helps with anxiety, for example this meta-analysis from Manzoni et al., 2008 covering 27 studies
